There are some great experimental labels around at the moment, Dead Pilots being one of them. The project delivers stunning releases with gorgeous packaging designs and are definitely one to watch out for in 2010…

About:

Dead Pilot records was set up in early 2007 as a platform for local artists/bands or artists met via websites such as myspace.com to release something physical; influenced by the increasing pay-for-download culture and the tiny labels still pioneering the physical format.

The first release was a limited to 200 compilation CDr of a vast array of sounds from technical metal to neo classical. Since then, Dead Pilot has developed into a rather special label, releasing music from the likes of Message to Bears, Stray Ghost & Ekca Liena. A second compilation has recently been released sporting the great black on white paper plane logo from the first compilation; a 2 x CDr set of music from Wereju, Nicholas Szczepanik, Royal Train & more. Not strictly genre limited and not afraid to try new things (whether it be with the music or the packaging) Dead Pilot has quickly become a very popular and influential label.

Currently, Dead Pilot is in the process of promoting their most recent set of releases, including works by Seabuckthorn, Stray Ghost, Operations and Pete Fosco. There are also plans to overhaul the website and begin stocking more labels in the store with a similar aesthetic and sound.

Look out for future releases on Dead Pilot from the likes of Brian Grainger, Spoono, and Timothy C. Holehouse and a re-issue of the sell out success debut album by Ekca Liena “Slow Music for Rapid Eye Movement” on double CD next year.
