Daylight Music: Nils Frahm, Simon Scott & Isnaj Dui

If you are in and around the London area this coming Saturday then make sure to pop into The Union Chapel as Daylight Music present another splendid free gig with artists Nils Frahm, Simon Scott & Isnaj Dui all performing live…

Nils Frahm, born in 1982, had an early introduction to music. During his childhood he was taught to play piano by Nahum Brodski – a student of the last scholar of Tschaikowski. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of the classical pianists before him as well as contemporary composers. Today Nils Frahm works as a composer and producer in Berlin. In early 2008 he founded Durton Studio, where he has worked with likeminded musicians.

Simon Scott is the former drummer of Slowdive who released his debut album “Navigare” on Miasmah Recordings (run by Erik.K.Skodvin from Deaf Center) on October 12th 2009.

The Wire Magazine review: “Scott is particularly adept at layering coolly shimmering guitars and dark churning currents of noise into something vast. A haunting aspect of ‘Navigare’ is how it seems to contain traces of tunes that stand out like half-forgotten relics of the past” (Dec’09).

Standing somewhere between modern classical and electronica, Isnaj Dui (real name Katie English) has spent the past four years provoking much interest from fellow electroacoustic artists for her unique blend of acoustic instruments and electronically manipulated effects. With numerous appearances at various events including Arctic Circle, disco_r.dance and Fear of Jazz alongside many sessions on Resonance 104.4fm, Isnaj Dui has built up a strong following. English’s recorded work has also received much critical acclaim from various reviewers including Wire magazine and White Line.
