“And life finds its way back to me,
Over the miry strand, over the roiling sea,
And picks me up like a silly pup
And plugs this promise in a puling mouth:
In love in life in love and I
Vow to draw the Brawn and Mettle card,

Vow to draw the Strength and Risk card,
And dance the old dance in new footwear,
To live and love and love and live
To write and dream and dream and fuck
In the full, indomitable light
Of hope, of hope, of hope.’
