50 For 2010: No. 1

2010 has been a good year for Fluid Radio and we have had the privilege of covering some remarkable releases…

As we collected our favorites and narrowed them down to just 50, ‘Silver Lines’ by Anna Rose Carter has always been the one album that just had that extra something and hence, warranted the No. 1 spot.

The album was also a huge source of inspiration to me earlier in the year whilst going through a difficult time and without ‘Silver Lines’ Fluid Radio would not be here today! I kid you not.

Some words I penned for a micro review earlier this year perfectly sums up what we think:

‘Silver Lines’ literally bathes in beauty…

Young artist Anna Rose creates majestic piano structured compositions that have an atmospheric portrait attached to them unlike anything I have heard for some time. It’s reminiscent of a Nils Frahm meets Peter Broderick fusion! Quite a statement I know, but that’s just how good this work is.

The key to the success of each piece is the simplicity of Anna’a arrangements. There is nothing overcomplicated here, and yet you witness an impressive compositional quality that gently expands within each track allowing the listening experience to be achingly beautiful.

As a modern composition project ‘Silver Lines’ paints its own opulent picture of mystery and love that transcends throughout each track in a powerful way leaving the listener in a state of complete tranquility.

A word or two about the artist:

”Hailing from the idyllic wilds of the south coast of Wales, Anna Rose, born November 1988, grew up being inspired by her surroundings. She started playing piano aged seven and was influenced by many modern day classical composers as well as the natural beauty around her.

Her piano solo work made its debut on the label Schedios Records. Silver Lines, comprising of five pieces, and is a raw, emotional reflection of her upbringing in Wales. She is currently based in London where she is studying, collaborating and developing her own music.”
