Tasogare: Twilight. The light between day and night…
Over the coming weeks we’ll be doing a series of articles about the upcoming 12k release Tasogare: Live In Tokyo; including a full review of the limited CD, an interview with label head Taylor Deupree about the recording and also a separate discussion about his approach to mastering music for the label and other interested artists.
In discussing the project with Taylor, the one thing that becomes apparent is the camaraderie that the 12k acts clearly developed over the time they spent together in Japan. One gets the impression of the label as a familial community of likeminded souls, working together for the common good.
As an introduction to the series, we’re pleased to be able to present some photos and recollections by Taylor of some well-deserved downtime on the trip…
“12k band Small Color… one of the best memories of the trip.

Rie, who is half of Small Color, invited us to her house for a home cooked meal (she’s an AMAZING cook) and it was phenomenal. At the end of the meal her and Yusuke started jamming Small Color songs live right there at the table.
It was total magic. They were leaving the next morning for their first European tour, so they liked to get a last bit of practice in. It was so fantastic….
Also, near the end of the week we all did an impromptu jam session at a popular record store in Tokyo called Warszawa, it was a big 12k jam.

Pretty fun… it was so spontaneous, the only way we could promote it was via Twitter and stuff. There were no flyers, no pre-planning… we managed to fill the store!
And lastly is a picture of Sawako+Hofli playing live at the temple on the first night.”
