Hibernate continue their postcard series with No.18 and a delicious two tracker EP from Antonymes…
Track one ‘Familiar Things Happen, And Mankind Does Not Bother About Them’ pieces together emotive guitar washes and furtive high frequency clicks and rustles into a simply gorgeous building epic piano workout. Widescreen tension builds delicately as a further heart wrenching piano line seals the deal before it all recedes leaving us with the original melody and time to ponder just what type of Oscar winning movie scene this piece should soundtrack.
The EP title track follows and comes in at a weighty 15 minutes long – not that you’ll notice. An undulating bass drone hovers underneath spectacularly produced flanged plucking type sounds sure to set the upper reaches of your serotonin receptors tweaking. Clanks and scrapes sit beautifully in the mix and beat out patterns as introduction to tumbling psychedelic pads – all accompanied by Alva Noto style edits and chops on the effects.
If you are a fan of hyper produced epic ambient electronics then acquaint yourself with this EP pronto. – Sublime!
