Something new is coming to the once-abandoned mills of Salford. Idle Chatter is a new space run by a collective who programme sonic art, performance, improvisation & experimental music. From their website it seems they’ve already hosted two events, but a concert on Thursday 22 September marks the official launch of the space.
WIDT, the audiovisual collaboration of Antonina Nowacka (sound) and Bogumila Piotrowska (live visuals), promises “a unique trip into the land of forgotten, avoided and yet unexperienced”, while Yes Blythe and Aliyah Hussain use cassette tapes and guitar pedals to create dark soundscapes. Michael Cutting and Vitalija Glovackyte’s duo Kinder Meccano offer “weird takes on pop music, vintage arcade game sounds, and analogue reimaginings of Japanese glitch music”, and Sam Weaver presents a performance on analogue synth. Should be a good one.
