Tape Loop Orchestra: Interiors Live

Tape Loop Orchestra is the solo project of Manchester-based artist Andrew Hargreaves, known also for his involvement (along with Craig Tattersall) in some of the finest and cherished ambient-pop records as The Boats. Steeped in a sense of nostalgia, the Lancashire romantic’s work as TLO patiently explores the notions of existence and time through painstaking manipulation of tape loops and found sound to create a wilting, deeply-personal, melancholic microcosm.

Interiors Live is the first public performance of a new work in progress by Tape Loop Orchestra. With a combination of minimal sound and found photographs, Interiors is an investigation into the domestic ambiance of rooms without inhabitants.

A New Line (Related)

Andrew Johnson (former Hood, The Remote Viewer, amongst others!) performs as his solo alias A New Line (Related). Quietly responsible for one of the finest self-titled LP’s of 2014, A New Line (Related) paints from pensive, cold-weather sound palette with a minimalistic aesthetic with equal nods to the dub-laden world of Basic Channel (see recent Kimochi EP) to the windswept North moors.

Sean Canty (Demdike Stare)

A truly dedicated digger and one half of Burnley’s finest experimental export Demdike Stare, Sean draws on one of the widest and most complete encyclopaedic knowledge of everything avant-garde and experimental for a special selection of ambient music prepared for the evening.

Conor Thomas (Death Of Rave)

Death Of Rave / Boomkat editions don Conor Thomas remains a true taste maker, light-years ahead of everyone else and ever-present in anything progressive and interesting in experimental music emerging from Manchester and beyond.

Information about Partisan…

Opened in July 2017, Partisan is a space for independent, community led, DIY and cultural based projects in Manchester. As a collective and co-operative, Partisan is democratically owned and managed by the people who work in and use the space. You can become part of our collective by becoming a member.

We are located over two floors in a Grade II listed building on Cheetham Hill Road. Our basement is a flexible venue space and bar, and upstairs is a large social space surrounded by offices and meeting rooms.

Both can be used by community and independent cultural groups for meetings, exhibitions, film screenings, book launches, parties and gigs. Revenue generated by membership, office and room rental, music events and the café-bar subsidise the free and affordable use of the space for those that need it.
