Songs for Spoken Words

Composer Richard Birkin has an intriguing project in the works entitled “Songs for Spoken Words”, in which his music is accompanied by written poetry broadcast to a mobile phone or tablet, or played back simultaneously in a web application. The words in “Songs for Spoken Words” are taken from Michael Frearson’s debut collection of poetry Being That Person.

A new way of experiencing poetry and music, or even a new art form altogether? You can decide for yourself by trying out the web app via the link below. The full music will be released on 16 Feburary 2015, with a launch concert on 3 February at St. John on Bethnal Green, London.
