Water & Concrete

Director Sophie Littman’s portrait of Hong Kong’s dense metropolis was inspired by Water and Concrete, an experimental soundscape by producer Alex Ives (aka Specimens), and contemporary composer Daniel Weismayr (which in turn was inspired by photographer Lucie Rox’s documentation of a US road trip). Here, the British filmmaker talks through the collaboration…

For this film I tried to echo the mediations between what I interpreted as the ‘water’ and ‘concrete’ components of the nuanced musical composition – Sophie Littman
