Organ Reframed

Union Chapel in North London has a pipe organ. A very nice pipe organ, in fact, constructed in 1877 and recently restored to its full glory. So what do you do if you’re one of London’s premier gig venues, and also happen to have such a fine musical instrument? Well, you organise a three-day festival around it, among other things.

organ, reframed is the Chapel’s name for three days of performances, screenings, and installations, taking place from 7-9 October 2016 and aiming to challenge perceptions of what the instrument is capable of. The line-up is pretty tantalising: James McVinnie, London Contemporary Orchestra, Fennesz, Mark Fell, Simon Scott, Laetitia Sadier, Claire M Singer, Bill Thompson, Alex Groves, Chaines, Catherine Lamb, and more.

Tickets cost £37.50 + booking fee, not bad at all for such a strong bill, and early bird discounts are available for single events. If you’re an organ fan, and especially if you’re still on the fence, this one’s for you.

For more information and to book, see the Union Chapel website.
