Almost a year shy of its debut UK performances, Vitalija Glovackyte’s ‘We Are For A While’ is being released on CD in a version performed by the ensemble Almost Credible Music. The album will be launched on Friday 9 June 2017 with a gig at Salford’s Caustic Coastal featuring a full line-up of sonic treats:
Kaj Duncan David will be performing music for amplified relay-box, three light-bulbs and shadows;
Laurie Tompkins and Susie Whaites (they of Slip fame) will debut a set for voices, a very small number of objects and a vibrating speaker;
Michael Cutting will be creating music from warping tape loops using a reel-to-reel tape deck, a Fender Rhodes piano, and a harmonium;
and finally Almost Credible Music will perform ‘We Are For A While’, a piece for broken and recycled instruments which last year won me over with its richly inventive timbres and harmonies, and often surprising twists and turns.
If you’re around in the Salford area on 9 June, this is definitely the place to be.
