London based pianist / composer Holt readies her intricate and elegant ‘Painted Sound’ EP for release. A self-taught writer and multi-instrumentalist, Holt’s passion is creating music that is capable of transporting the listener to another world. Focussing on building deep (and sometimes dark) cinematic soundscapes, Holt creates music which is ethereal, haunting and emotive.
Her influences on her first instrumental EP range from the evocative sounds of Philip Glass & Max Richter and expressive textures of Massive Attack and Nils Frahm.
Created in lockdown, unable to see family and friends – Holt found solace in her music, holed up in a loft with an old piano. Exploring themes of isolation, reconfiguration and creation, the resulting EP is seven pieces of exquisite music.
‘The writing started in the spring, usually a time of new beginnings and renewal – all turned on its head by the pandemic. I found myself exploring themes of isolation, loneliness and our surreal new world – but I also found joy in irrepressibility of nature that I had previously taken for granted’
‘Glasser”’ delivers a perfect soundtrack to fleeting moments of calm and stillness in today’s changing and challenging world.
